Multiple Casual Positions Band 4 Salary from $32.14 - 34.26 per hour, plus casual loading and super Located at the Art Gallery of Ballarat The Art Gallery of Ballarat provides a focus for visual arts in the Ballarat region. It is the oldest regional Gallery in Australia with a collection of Australian art which ranks in the top 5 in the nation. Special collections relate to early Ballarat, Goldfields, Eureka, the Lindsay family and medieval and renaissance manuscripts. The Gallery aims to stimulate appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts for the people of Ballarat region and to attract visitors from the wider Australian communities. The Gallery conserves a major collection, displays and interprets the collection, presents temporary exhibitions, tours, workshops, lectures and musical and performance events. We are looking for a number of dynamic, detail focused, team focused people to assist with installation of exhibitions and support the management of the Gallery collection. Key Selection Criteria: Knowledge and experience in exhibition installation, de-installation and the preparation of artworks and objects for display. An understanding of, and experience in, the care and appropriate handling and storage of a gallery or museum collection. Skills in managing time, planning and being self-motivated to meet project goals. With a focus on service delivery, the ability to work flexibly and outside core hours and weekends as required. Sound verbal and written communication skills to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. An effective team player with the ability to work cooperatively and positively in a multidisciplinary team. An appropriate fitness level to carry out regular lifting and carrying duties and an ability to operate associated plant and machinery relating to exhibition projects. Understanding of safe manual handling practices and operation of equipment. Possession of a current Driver’s licence is essential. Possession of a licence to perform high risk work (elevated work platforms) would be an advantage. Willingness to undertake training courses as recommended.
