Claims Consultant - Retail — Sydney CBD, Sydney

The Client Our client is a major player in the world Reinsurance market, and a leading brand in both General, Life and Health Reinsurance with a presence on every continent. Trans­acting all lines of life, health, and annuity busi­ness, the client has advanced to become a leading pro­vider of rein­surance concepts and solu­tions. The company supports its clients' finan­cing of new busi­ness, finan­cial optimi­sation and offers product partner­ships for strategic market positioning. The Role This is a rare opportunity for an experienced retail claims assessor to join this leading Reinsurer, and develop their skills in a new environment to that traditionally experienced at the primary Insurers. Key aspects of this role include; Managing Retail claims portfolios (Income Protection, Total and Permanent Disablement, Trauma, Terminal Illness and Death) in line with the AFSL on Claims Handling Services, the agreed Service Level Agreement, LICOP. Responding to requests for reviews from the insured and their representatives on claim decisions. Participating in internal claims forums to discuss complex cases. Attending various industry seminars/training Liaising with internal and external parties Participating in projects as and when required. Risk management responsibilities in accordance with the claims regulatory requirements Important Note; Role is initially offered on a full time, contract basis to November 2025 , but with a good chance of being either extended, or made permanent. The perks of the role are as per a standard permanent position (sick pay, bonus, annual leave etc). Requirements / About You Must have at least 3 years experience in Retail, Direct or Group Life claims assessment, though a solid background in the retail claims space would be highly regarded. Excel at Income Protection and TPD full E2E claims assessment. Have gained their delegated authority - ideally at $5,000 or more for IP and $150,000 for lump sum. A sound understanding of the regulatory framework governing claims - LICOP and LICOPv2 in particular Tertiary qualification in Allied Health, Law or Finance is preferable, but not mandatory. Candidates MUST have strong life insurance full "end to end" claims management experience for this role - candidates from outside of the Life Insurance industry will not be considered.
