About the Role  St Gregory’s is seeking a creative, energetic and committed Music Teacher who uses their interpersonal skills to collaborate and communicate with colleagues to achieve the best outcome for the students.  Benefits and Opportunities   A positive and collaborative workplace culture   Extensive training in our high-quality professional learning program, Catalyst   Access to curriculum resources that support evidence-based, high-impact teaching practice   24 weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption)   Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave)   Support for professional development and study opportunities   Opportunities to transfer to other schools within the Archdiocese across ACT and NSW to support lifestyle choice Key Responsibilities   Create a learning environment which stimulates learning of music and promotes excellence, and which accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported Use a variety of high impact teaching and learning strategies to meet individual needs as far as is possible Identify learner needs, conferring with specialist staff in the school when necessary Provide timely and useful feedback about completed assessment items to students Maintain professional confidentiality on information about students Plan, prepare, record and evaluate work to be undertaken by classes Mark and assess students’ work and keep complete and accurate records of each student’s progress Communicate with and establish effective and cooperative working relationships with teaching and non-teaching colleagues Undertake playground, class and other supervisions according to rosters as required Work with colleagues to review and develop the curriculum and write teaching programs Undertake regular professional development, such as reading and attending courses, for the development of knowledge and skills on a personal basis, to take into account current developments relevant to the needs of students and the requirements of the curriculum Essential Criteria  Must hold NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) registration and NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) accreditation. Must have completed relevant Education/Teaching tertiary qualification. A sound knowledge of the NSW Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning Relevant qualifications and professional experience Classroom management and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments including managing challenging student behaviours and meeting a variety of learning needs Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills so as to engage positively with colleagues, students and parents Commitment to continual improvement by taking responsibility for personal and professional accountability Application Process  Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes, and experience as outlined in the Position Description.   This position involves working with children.
