Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year. We are seeking high-quality teachers who are enthusiastic and dedicated to teaching students with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairment, and challenging behaviours. Suitable applicants should be able to manage and work well in a team and ideally possess excellent behaviour management skills and techniques matched directly to student needs. They should be innovative and have good knowledge of disability to cater for the individual learning needs of each student and ensure high expectations of student progress. Suitable applicants will provide the best for each student both academically and non-academically. They will ideally establish and maintain quality relationships and communicate extensively with all stakeholders. Experience and knowledge of planning using the Western Australian Curriculum, implementing evidence-based programs and reporting to parents for students with special education needs and disabilities, especially Autism and communication difficulties will be highly regarded. Applicants who are familiar with teaching Sounds Write, Letters and Sounds and Protective Behaviours and who have a deep understanding of communication pedagogy including the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems and Aided Language Stimulation practices are encouraged to apply. Teachers will be expected to plan, implement, monitor and report on student progress at an individual level, while incorporating school-based initiatives including Literacy, Mathematics and Communication. Experience with the Special Education Needs - Reporting to Parents (SEN RTP) is also highly desirable. Teachers are expected to undertake leadership roles across the school in accordance with the School Plan, and to actively participate in curriculum and pedagogy focus teams.
