Overview: PlaySide Studios, one of Australia's largest game development companies, is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Audio Designer to join our versatile Audio team. As Audio Designer I, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects and be a key contributor to the production and implementation of high-quality audio assets across various game genres and platforms. This role requires some game audio production and implementation experience, a strong willingness to learn and develop additional skills, the ability to adapt to new tools and pipelines, and to collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to create immersive player experiences. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement exceptional audio content that enhances the player experience. Contribute to all aspects of sound design, post-production, and implementation pipelines for both linear and interactive content across multiple audio styles and game genres. Collaborate closely with the Audio Lead and other team members to establish unique sonic identities for each project. Effectively take on board feedback from the team and project stakeholders and action accordingly. Export and deliver audio assets from Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) to meet industry standards, following internal protocols for engine import, implementation, and version control. Work effectively and efficiently within industry standard audio middleware systems (FMOD, WWise) Continuously improve skills in all areas of audio design. Aid in integrating and troubleshooting key audio system components within Unity and Unreal. Manage audio assets efficiently and document processes as needed. Contribute to the enhancement of the Audio team's workflow and efficiency by sharing relevant experience and skills through communication, demonstration, and documentation. Foster a positive studio culture and promote teamwork across the company. Skills Required: A quality demo reel showcasing your audio design abilities. Tertiary degree or equivalent personal/professional experience in a relevant field. Some industry experience in sound design, audio editing, asset generation, processing, and mixing, with a focus on sound effects and dialogue. Proficiency with one or more current Digital Audio Workstations (Reaper preferred) and audio software/plugins (e.g., iZotope, Fab Filter). Experience of using Wwise and / or FMOD middleware in a professional environment. Ability to multitask, prioritize competing priorities, and adapt to changing project requirements. An established understanding of game development pipelines. Some knowledge of VR / MR systems and related audio workflow. Experience with Unity. Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to be responsible for owning key areas of audio design, implementation, and project-specific strategies under the direction of the Audio Lead. Use of either software or hardware sythesisers in the generation of audio content. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong work ethic and a positive attitude. Bonus Points: Audio scripting abilities (C# / C++). Knowledge of Unreal Blueprint authoring. Technical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on workflow improvement. Understanding of dynamic music system authoring within industry standard middleware. Experience with working with voice actors and / or VO pipeline service providers. Knowledge of localisation systems and workflow. Knowledge of music theory and composition practices / workflow A deep understanding of synthesis.
