Legal Counsel - LATAM The Weir Group Sydney or Brisbane Hybrid Purpose of Role: Legal Counsel (APAC) is responsible for assisting the Group General Counsel APAC (Sydney based) to analyse, develop, and manage legal operations across Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region. You will assist Group General Counsel APAC to identify, advise on, and manage strategic or other material legal risks (including in particular major transactions and disputes), and to lead commercial support to Weir's Minerals and ESCO APAC operations for customer sales and other commercial contract matters. This role supports Weir Group and each Weir Division and is responsible for providing practical and robust legal advice and commercial contract support and managing changes to legal operations across the region. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Group General Counsel to develop, implement, and manage improved legal operations for Weir's Minerals and ESCO APAC businesses, including identifying business operational needs and potential solutions, strategic planning, developing and rolling out business process, documentation, and legal training, and managing change. Assist the Group General Counsel APAC with a broad range of matters across the region including strategic or other material legal, governance, transactional, litigation (dispute) and commercial matters. Assist with the regional implementation of Weir Legal policies, including the Code of Conduct, Weir Competition Manual and Weir Commercial Manual, and Identify opportunities for and provide legal and compliance training. Proactively identifying, analysing and addressing business legal needs; creating, developing, and implementing effective legal operation solutions; and driving lean and continuous improvement of legal operations and service delivery. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Legal experience gained within a top-tier law firm, major international company or in-house (in-house general counsel experience highly desirable). Admitted to practice law in an Australian jurisdiction with an unrestricted practising certificate. Experience working on complex international corporate and commercial transactions. Experience with legal operations and / or change management highly desirable. Work Environment: International and domestic travel may be required (subject to COVID restrictions).
