Design Engineer for Engine / Power Installation and Cooling (E/PIC) systems team Perform engineering design, analysis, and validation activities in support of Caterpillar underground mining machine development. Specifically support the team integrating power systems (diesel engine and / or battery) and cooling systems to meet machine requirements for performance, durability, quality, cost, and manufacturability. Collaborate with team to meet project deliverables on time and with completed staff work. Utilize design guides, best practices, and standard work to develop systems aligned with our pursuit of Defect Free. Collaborate with the global team across multiple disciplines. Engage with various test and manufacturing teams to provide design engineering support through the product development cycle. Candidates must be interested in gaining hands-on experience as design functions interact with manufacturing and test activities, and support collaboration across disciplines. Also, candidates must be willing to take initiative, be motivated to learn and grow, and eager to make meaningful contributions to the team. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university - 2 years of engineering experience (design, validation, or simulation) - Basic understanding of industrial machinery and / or engines - Good communication skills and experience working in team environment - Design experience using CREO or similar Top candidates will also have: - Diesel engine and / or cooling system engineering experience - Underground mining machine engineering experience - Understanding of Caterpillar design processes, APQP, or Teamcenter - Understanding of Caterpillar product development processes such as New Product Introduction (NPI) and / or Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) processes - Manufacturing support / collaboration experience Posting Dates: March 28, 2024 - April 17, 2024 Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).
