Portfolio Construction Strategist — Melbourne, Melbourne Region

The Portfolio Construction Strategist role involves working with our asset allocation specialists and the Portfolio Solutions team, where you will assist in building our suite of portfolios and contribute to investment strategy formulation, research of asset classes and fund strategies. Your key responsibilities will be to: Construct portfolios with efficiency and consistency, reflecting desired asset class, style, macro and market exposures. Monitor portfolios for their likelihood of achieving their stated objectives and recommend any changes that may be necessary to ensure they do. Contribute to medium term investment strategy formulation, providing asset allocation/sub asset/strategy recommendations. Assist in formulating investment-oriented portfolio construction recommendations. Measuring, monitoring, and managing risk and presenting to asset allocation meetings and Investment Committees (internal and external as required). Pull together recommendation documentation outlining portfolio positioning/changes and the rationale underlying these positions/changes. Contribute thought leadership pieces (articles, interviews) on areas such as portfolio construction, roles of assets, strategies, etc. Present portfolio construction and strategy issues and themes as part of our asset allocation service to existing and prospective clients. Point of contact between asset allocation and portfolio solutions personnel. To join us you will need the following experience and skills: You will ideally have a bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Commerce or Business - this is highly advantageous. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You must have the ability to work independently and take ownership of your own workload. You must have exceptional presentation skills and strong attention to detail. You will ideally have 5 years work experience within investment strategy, research or portfolio construction would pique our interest. Your knowledge of risk analytics and risk systems such as MSCI BarraOne will be highly advantageous. Your Python skills are highly desired. Broad experience with various types of investments and their characteristics, including equities, fixed income, credit and private assets.
