UI Designer — Surry Hills, Sydney

thelab, Sydney is expanding and looking for a UI Designer to join their team. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in our Darlinghurst office, and 2 days WFH. You are perfect for this role if you like getting into the details of all things web design, creating UI designs and their supporting assets on small and large-scale websites. The UI Designer will report directly to the Lead Designer, and they will work very closely as part of a small but mighty team. We partner directly with clients to think big, build from scratch, and design for reality. From branding & design to e-commerce builds or anything in between, thelab mixes inspiration and hard work to produce results. You are: Driven by details. You are meticulous, thorough, and enjoy being extra precise with your web and mobile interface designs. Able to collaborate with UX, development, and creative teams to clearly communicate your ideas both in person and remotely. Able to take direction well both internally from senior creatives and externally from clients. Experienced working with brands to create UI experiences that are intuitive and engaging. Someone whose heart flutters at a well-designed website. An aspiring Figma wizard. Familiar with the basic principles of how websites are built. Able to present a portfolio of work that demonstrates your UI design capabilities. Able to show 1-2 years of experience working in a professional environment within your resume. Reliable to work independently from home within a hybrid setup. Living in Sydney, and able to commute to our Darlinghurst office 3 days a week. Have a professional attitude whilst being kind, creative, and easy-going. Nice to have: Experience with creating design systems. UX Design experience. Experience presenting design comps to clients and stakeholders. Basic understanding of motion principles, interaction design, and Figma prototyping, happy to storyboard as needed.
