Your New Role Looks Like This: As the Legal Counsel, Property and Social Infrastructure you will deliver high quality, independently-minded and commercially-focused legal services, aligned to the strategic and commercial drivers of businesses within the Wealth & Capital Markets (W&CM) platform, part of the Australian Unity Group. Specifically, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Legal (Property & Social Infrastructure) to provide legal services to the $1.1 billion Herston Quarter Redevelopment and the property and social infrastructure funds within W&CM. Key Responsibilities include: Manage the legal component of and otherwise support a wide range of capital transactions, property, construction, facilities operations, and business-as- usual matters for the property and social infrastructure funds and Herston Quarter development project. Review, negotiate, draft and finalise contracts and documents to facilitate business outcomes and implement all transactional and project work in collaboration with senior internal and external stakeholders. Draft notices and other correspondence required by stakeholders in connection with key agreements. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to provide legal input on new commercial activities (as applicable) related to new opportunities, construction contracts and financing. Provide advice that demonstrates a sound understanding of law, business policy and opportunities. Develop, review and implement legal processes and templates that satisfy business needs, whilst appropriately managing legal risk. Manage external legal firms in the provision of legal advice and transactional support including monitoring external legal spend in a cost conscious manner and consistent with legal services orders. Utilise stakeholder management skills to establish positive and cooperative working relationships with all levels of staff throughout Australian Unity, and specifically with other members of the W&CM Legal team, the broader Group Governance team and key stakeholders in the W&CM business (in particular the EGMs and GMs). Please note that this role is open to Melbourne and Brisbane Candidates About You: Tertiary education in law coupled with current practicing certificate in Australia 4 - 6 years’ relevant experience in a leading private practice law firm or an in-house legal function in property (including property development), construction, projects and commercial law. Experience working in funds management, financial services, Public Private Partnerships and infrastructure delivery will be viewed favourably (but is not essential) Experience dealing with senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders Experience briefing external law firms and managing legal spend desirable (but not essential) Demonstrated high level attention to detail and excellent communication skills (oral and written).
