The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill the role of System Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer in our Security and Infrastructure Branch. This is a permanent position at the APS 6 classification level. Successful applicants can work either full-time or part-time hours. Flexible working arrangements, including a hybrid model of working from home and the office applies.The System Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer role may include the following duties: build, configure, manage and troubleshoot Windows Server Operating systems or Red Hat Enterprise Linux; experience in MECM, Puppet and other management tools preferredbuild, configure, manage and troubleshoot VMWare and/or Nutanix Hypervisorsbuild, configure, manage and troubleshoot Enterprise Server and/or Storage equipmentadministration of OS Security products (Anti-virus, Application Control, Endpoint)consulting with business and technical stakeholders to perform requirements gathering and implement solutions to satisfy those requirementsan ability to design and develop repeatable processes utilising automation techniques and tooling.Common responsibilities across all APS 6 level roles in the Security and Infrastructure Branch include: ensuring the delivery of ABS business outcomes through participation in multi-disciplinary agile teamsliaising with internal and external stakeholders (including vendors), leveraging their expertise to resolve critical issues and inform decisionsadhering to the ABS Contract, Change Management and Financial management processesutilising your technical leadership experience to mentor staff and contribute to organisational capability uplift and support Executive Level staff to lead and manage the sectionpreparing and maintaining appropriate documentationan expectation to participate in a 24 x 7 on-call roster.What we are looking forTo be considered for a System Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer position you will need most, or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:demonstrated experience in deploying, managing and troubleshooting Windows or Linux Operating systemsdemonstrated experience in configuration and support of Enterprise Server equipment (Citrix / Dell preferred)demonstrated experience in configuration and support of Virtualisation platforms (VMWare/Nutanix preferred)demonstrated experience in configuration and support of Enterprise Storage, Storage Area Networks (Dell preferred)knowledge or experience with OS Security products such as MS Defender, Carbon Black or other endpoint security productsknowledge or experience with OS Management products such as MECM, Group Policy, Satellite, Puppetknowledge or experience with scripting and automation (Powershell, Python, Bash).To apply, complete an online application form on the ABS e-recruitment system.
