Position Information Rose Bay Secondary College, Years 7 -12, is a partially selective, coeducational high school in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, with a student enrolment of approximately 1225 students in 2024. The school has a focus on high academic achievement and quality teaching in a rich learning environment. The school has a support unit, the Inclusive Education Faculty (IEF), for students with special educational needs. The College is a member of the local and very active community of schools (CoSiES) working closely with our nine partner primary schools and enjoys active and supportive parent involvement including the coordination of significant programs such as the Music Ensembles Program, a wide range of sports and debating. An extensive co-curricular program caters for diverse student interests including sport, dance, drama, debating, Duke of Edinburgh, music, film, Tournament of the Minds and student leadership. The school services a multicultural community with over 50 language backgrounds other than English spoken in the home. The school has strong links with the Board of Jewish Educators to support the provision of the teaching of Hebrew language in the school. Selection Criteria Approval to teach Music 7-12 and approval to deliver VET Entertainment Industry, or meet the requirements as indicated in the special notes (see below). Capacity to work in a collaborative and organised manner to effectively support students to meet the demands of VET education and higher level HSC achievement. Capacity to deliver a variety of contextually relevant and differentiated learning experiences that will result in student growth across the areas of performing, composing, listening and musicology. Capacity to coordinate extracurricular activities and whole school events; including bands, musical theatre, assemblies and additional creative and performing arts programs. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to faculty planning, extra-curricular activities, and develop positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.     Special Notes Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application. Teachers from all key learning areas with recent and relevant industry experience and/or qualifications can seek entry to the VET Entertainment Industry teacher training program through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Applications must be supported by primary documented evidence of recent and relevant industry experience and/or qualifications mapped against the competencies to be delivered in schools.
