Teacher Mathematics - Cessnock High School — Newcastle Area, Newcastle Region

Position Information Cessnock High School is a contemporary and future-focused learning community located in the historic heritage school buildings on Aberdare Rd, in the picturesque Hunter Valley. Our 2023 enrolment will encompass approximately 620 students from diverse backgrounds including 25% of whom identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander. Professional learning is a strongly embedded structure within our school, with key focus areas including quality teaching, literacy and numeracy, and trauma-informed practice. We proudly foster strong relationships with our partner primary schools and have set the standard in Aboriginal Education, Middle School. Our support unit contains 9 classes of ED, IM, IO/IS, MC and AU classifications. Our staff are passionate and dedicated individuals, we strive to ensure all students are provided with a diverse range of opportunities to be inspired, valued, hopeful and intellectually curious global citizens. Selection Criteria Approval to teach Mathematics 7-10, approval to teach Mathematics 11-12. Capacity to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative faculty, including developing programs and units of learning, and implementing quality teaching strategies for a diverse range of students.  Capacity to differentiate teaching and learning practices to meet the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of all students, including those who require additional learning support. Demonstrated commitment and understanding of cultural sensitivity with a strong focus on enhancing Aboriginal families while maintaining positive community relationships to increase students' growth in numeracy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
