Position Information The Crescent School has become a centre of excellence in the teaching and learning of students with disabilities.   Our children receive highly individualised teaching and learning that addresses their needs and interests and facilitates continued development in these areas. We have high expectations of students and staff, with the children at the centre of all our decision-making, and we are committed to the ongoing development and delivery of our exceptional programs. The enrolment number for the school is 94 students, 20% of students are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 9% of students whose first language is a language or dialect other than Standard Australian English. Selection Criteria Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Moderate Intellectual Disability (Primary) and Severe Intellectual Disability (Primary) Demonstrated classroom management skills to support students with complex behaviour and the ability to work collaboratively with school leaders, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and families to plan, implement and evaluate adjustments in response to student needs. Commitment and demonstrated capacity to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and report on quality teaching and learning programs that meet the diverse needs of students with disability. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills that develop positive professional relationships with students, staff and the community. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
