Girrawheen Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an experienced Teacher – Vocational Education and Training (VET) Coordinator or an enthusiastic organised Teacher with a keen interest in becoming a VET Coordinator The Teacher - VET Coordinator will provide educational leadership in the delivery and development of VET programs within the school and wider community. The successful applicant will work as part of a highly committed and dedicated team supporting students in their senior schooling journey and subsequent post school transition to employment, training or further education. The successful applicant should promote the value of VET and endorsed programs to students, staff, parents and the wider community. Strong organisational skills and extensive knowledge of career pathways, Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) requirements; in particular VET pathways and current industry requirements is important for this role. An understanding of the local community context is also an advantage. The successful applicant should have oversight of VET and endorsed course enrolments, resulting, compliance and meeting of deadlines with the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, Registered Training Organisations and school wide processes. In addition, the successful applicant will ideally provide leadership and support the performance of teachers in relation to VET programs, working closely with the senior school team. They should work closely with VET students to support attainment in VET programs. Using effective change strategies, the successful applicant should lead the school to develop opportunities for improved service in the area of VET, including but not limited to exploring student opportunities in VET profile courses, Aboriginal school-based training programs and school based teams to maximise student outcomes. Exceptional interpersonal skills and in-depth knowledge of VET and career pathways enabling counselling of students and being able to effectively communicate with staff, parents and the wider community including workplace learning employers and registered training organisations will be highly regarded. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy.
