Your New Career Child and Family Health exists to support the health and wellbeing of children, from birth to school age, and their families. Programs include the Maternal and Child Health Service, parent education, parenting support and playgroups. About the role This dynamic, varied role will see you being responsible for supporting the delivery of the First Time Parent Group and Parent Education programs, through both session planning and facilitation. No two days will be alike, as you work to promote positive health behaviours that enhance health and development outcomes for infants, young children and their families. Key Selection Criteria Mandatory Qualifications and Experience Demonstrated experience in the planning and facilitation of early childhood/parenting groups. Experience working with children in vulnerable and high-risk families, particularly in home-based, community and group settings. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of the Maternal and Child Health Service. Demonstrated experience in health promotion and parent education. Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development. Understanding of the impact of early intervention within high-risk families – in particular in the context of trauma, mental health, family violence and poverty. Current Working with Children Check. Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). Current driver’s licence. Desirable Qualifications and Experience Experience in Local Government.
