About the role At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive and to achieve this, we need a talented Data Engineer to join our Data Portfolio tribe. The Data Portfolio tribe sits within the Australia Retail division and our mission is to combine business & technology capabilities to enable analytics, reporting & data asset development by users across ANZ's Australia Retail division. The Data Engineer is critical to making this happen and will: Design data structures for data ingestion, integration and analytics layers on a variety of technologies Design software that enables the automation of data engineering practices to increase productivity Engineer efficient, reliable and scalable data pipelines Optimise data flows by building robust, fault-tolerant data pipeline that cleans, transforms, and aggregates unorganized and messy data into databases or data sources & diverse data technologies such as Spark, Trino and Airflow Role Location: Melbourne Role Type: Permanent What will you bring? To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following: MS or BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent practical experience in Data Engineering A Strong background in at least one of the following: distributed data processing, software engineering of data services, or data modelling that results in the building of high quality, scalable data products Experience in ETL and developing data pipelines using big data technologies (Spark, Trino, Airflow) on large scale data sets and proficient with complex SQL Experience and proficiency in at least one high-volume data processing environment (Cloudera, BigQuery, Trino/Presto or equivalent) Software Engineering experience with proficiency in at least one major programming language Python (preferred), Java, Scala, PySpark, GO, Java and familiar with cloud resources (S3, Kubernetes) You're not expected to have 100% of these skills.
