Role Purpose: The profitable development of the Energy and Construction (E&C) portfolio in the Pacific, in line with plans and underwriting strategy, while considering expansion opportunities, such as Mining, in the future. Working with colleagues across the Property line to drive expansion and profitable growth in technical lines and higher hazard general property segments. ( eg Primary timber, primary metals, food and beverage, rail and logistics) Working with the Pacific leadership team and other Line of Business heads to drive expansion and profitable growth across the region, including our cross-line approach. Lead and/or support role in coaching and developing the team(s), creating a work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation and cooperation in line with the Everest culture. Supporting the International Head of Energy and Construction in the development, marketing, relationship management (both client and broker) of our growing book of Energy and Power business across Everest Insurance International. Key Accountabilities: Accountability for the strategic direction, oversight and performance of the Pacific Region E&C Portfolio. Responsible for successful execution of the Energy and Construction plan; adjusting strategies and actions to meet the needs of a changing marketplace; effectively preserve and enhance profitability through product development and enhancement; pricing discipline, risk mitigation & transfer solutions, competitive analysis and the development of business-enhancing performance metrics and controls. Formulating guidelines (any localisation in conjunction with the International Product Head) and executing underwriting strategy. Overall responsibility for the branch E&C P&L and delivery of all key metrics. To produce, develop, underwrite and manage a portfolio of E&C business (and hard-to-place business in conjunction with broader property team), including underwriting & pricing, wording development, broker and client relationships and ensuring that all business is serviced effectively. Bind business in accordance with respective authority levels, and act as a referral point as required. Support the business development and execution of yearly business and budget planning. Provide insurance solutions & broader risk management support to clients most complex risks and challenges. Developing a business and marketing plan, building brand and product awareness through broker market. Expanding and enhancing the current product range to allow Everest to compete with the market leaders in the sector. Working as one team (underwriting and claims) to target business, including cross line initiatives, to build the Everest brand and trusted partner status. Effective communication with management on all issues both within and outside the Unit as needed. Interacts and coordinates activities with other departments (e.g. Claims, Loss Control, and Accounting). Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and / or carry out responsibilities and / or administrative activities at the syndicate. Professional Experience: Underwriting expert with extensive Underwriting experience in Property, Energy and Construction across the Australia & New Zealand marketplace. Demonstrated ability to generate new business and proven record of delivering meaningful underwriting profit. Credible leader with proven people management, team building and leadership skills. Highly collaborative and able to work effectively with peers. Strong technical background, problem solving analytical skills, and ability to connect data analytics with strategic deliverables to drive underwriting strategy. Knowledge of pricing including experience rating, composite rating, large risk and loss rating. Excellent analytical, communication, and computer skills.
