Principal Legal Practice Adviser Salary: $130,673 - $174,869 (Plus Superannuation) Ongoing role Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) Usual work location: 1 Spring Street, Melbourne / Hybrid working arrangements (flexibility may be available) The Role This Department supports a diverse range of portfolios, including: Jobs and Industry; Creative Industries; Medical Research; Tourism, Sport and Major Events; Outdoor Recreation; Economic Growth; Community Sport; Small Business; Skills and TAFE; Regional Development; and Employment. Reporting to the Executive Director and General Counsel, Legal and Legislation, the Principal Legal Practice Adviser provides high level strategic advice and operational support to the Office of the General Counsel and the Legal and Legislation Branch more generally. The Team The position of Principal Legal Practice Adviser forms a part of the Corporate Services Group and Legal and Legislation Branch. The Branch's role is to provide high quality legal and legislative advice and services on a broad range of matters across the Department. There is always a great variety of interesting work. About You You will provide high level operational and strategic advice on matters involving the Legal and Legislation Branch, to proactively support the development of continuous improvement projects and work with senior stakeholders to support the delivery of priority outcomes. You will be required to proactively build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You will be required to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current internal and external issues and risks, to make recommendations and offer options for decision making for the General Counsel. In addition, you may be required to prepare and lead the review of reports, briefings, submissions, correspondence, and other advice on complex and sensitive issues to ensure quality and timeliness of advice and facilitate effective decision-making. You will also work with the Legal Practice Coordinator to ensure the timely and effective management of budgets and workforce resource planning; procurement; maintain and develop processes and systems to ensure efficient operations; champion the use of technology to support our provision of legal services.
