Classroom Teacher — Collingwood, Yarra Area
Expired

We have unique full-time opportunities available for passionate teachers with varying levels of experience to work with young people in a custodial setting. Classrooms are typically made up of 1-6 students who are remanded or sentenced in a Youth Justice Facility. This allows for 1-on-1 and tailored teaching opportunities and the ability to spend time not only creating but following up each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). The end goal is supporting them with the transition into either flexible learning schools or mainstream education. Opportunities are available near Carlton, 10 minutes north from the CBD with plenty of public transport options and parking available. Opportunities are also available near Werribee, 15 minutes from Werribee station. Support for teachers is a top priority. Staff members meet regularly for wellbeing sessions facilitated by a clinician. New teachers will start by shadowing current teachers until they are confident to lead their own classrooms. Assistance from experienced youth workers is also provided. Teachers are always supported in the classroom with students. Work hours are from 8:30am to 4:06pm. Since the supports and stakeholders are all based within the Youth Justice Facility, work-life balance is more achievable than in other education settings. During the recruitment journey, our team here at iCare Staffing will provide you with continuous support, assistance, and guidance to ensure you are confident and prepared for both the recruitment process and the role itself. As the premier labour-hire agency within the community services sector, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
