The Opportunity We are looking for a confident Senior Legal Counsel to provide CPB Contractors and its major projects with timely and pragmatic legal advice regarding the application of workplace health and safety laws and regulations. Reporting to the Legal Manager, the Senior Legal Counsel will primarily be accountable for: Managing workplace investigations and other ethics and compliance issues Reporting to our shareholder, CIMIC Assisting businesses to prepare risk management plans and answer tender questions Instructing and managing external counsel where applicable Identifying solutions, owning decisions and resolving issues as they arise, whilst collaborating with managers and stakeholders Proactively identifying opportunities for increasing efficiency and innovation in providing legal advice Providing guidance and mentoring to Legal Counsel in the team Creating and maintaining effective working relationships across the business Improving CPB's external and internal relations through displaying professionalism Briefing, liaising and overseeing service providers, ensuring compliance with CPB and CIMIC standards Keeping up to date with and project managing Company's response to compliance, legislative and regulatory issues as they arise. Our minimum requirements for this role are: Bachelor of Law (LLB or equivalent) Qualified to practice as a solicitor in an Australian jurisdiction - holding (or entitled to hold) current practicing certificate 10 years post qualification experience, with a focus on workplace health and safety matters Strong understanding of relevant legislation (harmonized and non-harmonised legal framework) and accompanying regulations Experience in managing critical workplace incidents and general risk management Excellent communication skills Excellent legal drafting skills Risk assessment and risk mitigation skills Ability to work autonomously and a can-do attitude Ethics and values consistent with CIMIC values.
