About the Role The Principal Education Officer (EOSD) will undertake a specialised project contributing to the Junior Secondary: On track for success initiative to support the delivery of the department's Equity and Excellence: realising the potential of every student strategy. This priority recognises the changing needs of young adolescent learners as they transition into and through junior secondary and navigate their way through their whole of learning journey. This temporary, fixed-term role offers an exciting and unique opportunity to lead the state-wide consultation component of the Junior secondary project. Consultation with key stakeholders including principals will seek feedback on draft resources in preparation for consolidation and synthesis of feedback. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: co-ordinate and lead the collection, synthesis and application of feedback from state-wide consultation; engage key stakeholders both virtually and face-to face; report directly to the Executive-Director, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning; and collaborate with the Director, Junior Secondary to design the consultation strategy and revise resources. The ideal candidate will have: personal drive and integrity to lead projects and work autonomously; deep knowledge of the developmental characteristics of young adolescent learners; deep knowledge of school and system resources and processes in primary and secondary schools; commitment to collaboration and teamwork and be open to innovative solutions; and effective time management and strong written and verbal communication skills. Mandatory Requirements: You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments. Employees engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36ΒΌ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 7.4 of the Department of Education State School Teachers Certified Agreement 2019. When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
