Sydney Water has partnered with Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) to deliver design, construction, maintenance, and facilities management services in Sydney Water's Southern Region. D4C is a consortium of John Holland, Service Stream and WSP. Each of these top-tier organizations provide skilled and experienced personnel into the D4C team, which operates as a fully integrated joint venture. The P4S program and D4C operate under the NEC-4 contract suite which facilitates innovation and a collaborative working environment. The Opportunity A key function within the program of works is the successful management of engineering and design activities. To fulfil this need, D4C has established a team of highly skilled and professional Design Managers. In response to continued and projected growth in workload, D4C is seeking additional Design Managers to join the Engineering and Design team. Design Managers are required to: Manage the overall delivery of project designs to time, budget and quality. Manage the Engineering governance processes (design input control, change management, verification and validation, etc.) Develop design fee estimates for both the “concept design phase” and the “detailed design phase” of each project. Manage design team coordination and interfacing with stakeholders and the construction team. Implement appropriate risk management principles & methodologies. Be accountable for successful design delivery on allocated projects. This role is strategically important to our future growth and impact. We are looking for people who have a can-do attitude, who are consultative, able to prioritise their work, and get things done. The successful candidates will be team players, and able to work with a range of stakeholders including influencing project leaders and helping highly technical engineers understand commercial imperatives. Ideally, successful candidates will have: 10 - 15 years of water industry experience (or similar process industry experience). A sound background of technical knowledge in one or more relevant technical disciplines including a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications. Demonstrated experience in being accountable for delivering designs that meet project objectives, legal requirements, quality system requirements and client standards. Some experience in coordinating multi-discipline design activities. A sound understanding of project management, contract management and commercial management relating to engineering and design activities. A sound understanding of risk management and associated techniques related to engineering and design activities. Demonstrated leadership capability.
