Job location Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre. Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team. Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure Mental Health, currently 134 bed, hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs. With planned expansion commencing 2024 with significant increase in access to care, we will have a dedicated Women's service and an additional medium secure men's facility. Now is the time to join us About the Role: The Senior Social Worker is a mobile clinical and coordination role practicing across multiple units within a designated social work stream (acute, women's and continuing care). The role involves direct-facing social work practice based as well as providing consultation and advice, holding designated portfolio/s and representing the discipline at various committees. Duties: Oversees and coordinates a designated stream of social work practice (acute, women's, continuing care) as well as leading and contributing to service development activities within the directorate as required. With the Lead Social Worker (Inpatients) initiates and implements stream-specific and discipline-specific quality improvement activities and contributes to quality improvement activities within the directorate. Provides clinical leadership and support to other social workers and staff working within Thomas Embling Hospital. Contributes to presentations, projects and publications, both internally and externally, that enhance the role and function of social work services in forensic mental health, and the social work discipline. About You: Demonstrated skills, experience and interest in forensic mental health social work and/or social work in statutory, forensic or custodial settings. Working knowledge and application of legislation, practice guidelines and passion for client-centred mental health care Keen to develop your Social Work practice at the interface between mental health and criminal justice systems. Enthusiastic and willing to bring your experience and skills to complex and rewarding practice environment. What you need: Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. A culture where people matter.
