As a Senior Software Engineer with leadership potential, you'll join our cutting-edge team responsible for large-scale Enterprise Backend APIs across various News Corp AU brands. You'll leverage your expertise to design, develop, and maintain robust APIs and microservices at scale, all while leading a group of world-class engineers. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow into a tech lead position, mentoring software engineers and shaping the future direction of our APIs. Accountability & Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and maintenance of large-scale Enterprise Backend APIs across various AU brands. Develop, and deliver robust APIs and microservices at scale within the AWS Cloud environment. Champion best practices in code quality, maintainability, and scalability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions. Guide and mentor software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the API development landscape. Continuously improve the efficiency, performance, and security of the enterprise content API. Who are you? 8 years proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale enterprise APIs (Java and/or Node.js/TypeScript). In-depth knowledge and experience in Spring IO and Hibernate 3 In-depth understanding of RESTful API principles and best practices Solid experience with AWS cloud platform Open mind to experience a new way of working where the customer is core to what we do Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for finding innovative solutions to technical challenges Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Desirable skills: Experience with NoSQL database development in ElasticSearch, DynamoDB Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) a plus Experience with front end technologies of javascript, CSS and HTML Experience building and deploying applications using GIT actions Familiarity with API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger, OpenAPI) Experience with the use of development IDEs (e.g. Eclipse and IntelliJ) Experience with Unix and Linux Systems News Benefits News Benefits is our way of saying thank you to our people for their valued contribution to News, our audiences, clients and communities.
