About the role In this role, you will lead data engineering and business insights functions and be responsible for overseeing the development of robust data engineering solutions. Work type: Permanent, full-time Classification: $161,586 plus Superannuation Key responsibilities include: Advising in data engineering and insights, delivering valid results-driven solutions for relevant stakeholders in line with the Department strategy, the City’s interests, legislation, policy, and statutory requirements. Engaging and building strategic networks and partnerships with key stakeholders internally and throughout the industry to drive collaboration. Managing and balancing the needs of key stakeholders to ensure department priorities are met and the advice and solutions meet customer expectations. Providing subject matter or expert advice to the Directorate, ELT, and other leaders across the organisation. Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines, ensuring the availability and reliability of data for analytical purposes. Overseeing the integration of data from various sources into a unified data platform. Evaluating and implementing emerging technologies to enhance data engineering capabilities. Coaching and mentoring colleagues and team members, uplifting department’s capabilities to meet the requirements of its future strategic goals. Driving the strategic vision for data engineering and insights, aligning with overall business goals. About you To be successful in this role you will have extensive knowledge of standards and practices related to data engineering as well as significant professional experience (6 years or more) in data engineering and business insights roles. Essential Experience: A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, and or significant professional experience in a comparable organisation. Demonstrated people skills to support influence and collaborate with relevant stakeholders. Accomplished negotiation, writing, presentation, and public speaking skills to influence stakeholders and achieve support for department outcomes. Well-developed problem solving and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build cooperation and partnerships. Demonstrated skills to collaborate with business stakeholders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop actionable insights. Lead the development of dashboards, reports, and data visualisations to effectively communicate insights to decision makers.
