About the opportunity The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east. Laing O’Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces. About the role We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance. This is an opportunity to build trusted relationships with community members and stakeholders such as our Eastern BTA leadership team and wider program teams. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities of the project to ensure that project plans are implemented in accordance with designs and specifications. Provide project engineering support to the construction teams to facilitate the construction process. Ongoing monitoring and reporting of work progress. Direct interface with the construction crews to collect data on information required for project status, cost reporting and forecasting. Support the site construction crews with developing and communicating work packages. Assist with technical queries. Provide direction and supervision for Site Engineers, as required. You will have A degree qualification in Civil Engineering along with construction contracting experience having worked as a Project Engineer for Tier 1 Construction Contractors. Structures and/or Civil experience across large scale infrastructure projects. A strong commercial acumen. A collaborative approach with proven ability to work effectively in a team.
