Position Title: Principal Mining Engineer As the Principal Mining Engineer, your primary responsibility entails strategic planning, achieving production targets and advancing long-term business objectives. You will play a pivotal role in executing plans that align with these goals. You will also be responsible for refining mine designs and extraction techniques to fully enhance operational efficiency. Your technical acumen will be instrumental in offering guidance on mining engineering principles and best practices. Collaborating with cross-functional teams comprising engineering, geologists, and metallurgists will be essential for optimising ore recovery processes and ensuring overall operational excellence. About You: Key Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong ability to cultivate relationships with clients and colleagues. Proficient in managing multiple projects concurrently. Willingness to share knowledge and mentor junior staff. Focused on continuous improvement. Proficient in technical report writing and peer review. Experience & Education: Bachelor's degree in mining engineering. Minimum of 10 years' experience in underground metalliferous mining operations, including onsite roles. Demonstrated expertise in mine studies, design, scheduling, and optimization across various mining methods and commodities. Advanced proficiency in mining software packages like Deswik or Surpac Role Description: Leadership: Reviewing project and service proposals for risk assessment and technical accuracy. Coordinating the development and delivery of projects. Assisting in budgeting and forecasting for the business unit and resource utilization. Identifying, monitoring, and reporting process improvement opportunities. Assisting in recruitment and talent development. Technical: Long-term and short-term mine scheduling and design for underground metalliferous mining operations. Building underground scheduling models using various mining software. Leading mining studies, including trade-offs, concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and life of mine. Cost modeling and financial evaluations for mine studies and schedules. Mineral reserve estimation and auditing. Miscellaneous: Domestic, international, and mine site travel as required. Other tasks as directed by management.
