The Moreton Bay Boys' College is seeking a Technologies and Engineering Assistant for a fixed-term, part-time appointment for Term 2, 2024. THE COLLEGE Established in 2003 MBBC is a P – 12 boys’ school set in the leafy bayside suburb of Manly West. It currently has 500 plus enrolments. At MBBC the Primary School consists of Years Prep to 6 with the Primary School Years 7 – 12. Senior boys follow the QCAA pathways with the majority of boys obtaining an ATAR. APPOINTMENT The Moreton Bay Boys' College is seeking a Technologies and Engineering Assistant for a fixed-term , part-time appointment for Term 2, 2024. The Technologies and Engineering Assistant is appointed by the CEO and Executive Principal, reports to the Head of Technologies and Engineering, and is responsible to the College Principal. The Technologies and Engineering Technician will be employed for 27 hours per week. The primary role of the Technologies and Technician is to ensure the Design Technology, Digital Technologies and Engineering Departments are safe and well maintained for students and staff which includes the Design Technology Manual Arts Workshop, Engineering Makerspace Workshop and all other Design Technology, Digital Technology and Engineering classrooms. The Technician also provides support to students and staff in the delivery of the academic program for the Technologies and Engineering Department from Years 5 to 12. This includes training of staff or students in appropriate Workplace Health and Safety Procedures for Workshops and Makerspaces or in using specific equipment in these spaces such as machinery, laser cutters or 3D printers. It also includes providing instruction to staff and students on CADCAM programs, particularly new staff or supply teachers. The main duties are provided below: KEY DUTIES Support academic programs in classrooms, workshop, makerspaces and on excursions Maintenance of machinery, equipment and resources. Ensure a safe working and learning environment. Acquisition, storage and replenishment of supplies and equipment. Maintain Technologies and Engineering work-spaces. Undertaking projects as part of an ongoing program of facilities development. Undertaking tasks related to the promotion of the Technology and Engineering areas. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY Experience in painting, varnishing, finishing, woodworking, workshop management and constructing student projects using a diverse range of contemporary materials and processes. Creativity, innovation and excellent problem-solving skills. Experience in maintaining a safe workshop area using current Workplace Health and Safety Guidelines. Experience with CADCAM and Laser cutting software and knowledge of how to operate and maintain laser cutters and 3D printers. Proven ability to prioritise, demonstrate initiative and take a flexible approach to tasks and to work autonomously. Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and provide a good role model for students. Highly developed planning and organisational skills. Ability to work autonomously through self-direction as well as with a team in a manner that fosters good communication and co-operation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage a range of stakeholders. Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices. QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE Tertiary qualifications in Design, Technologies, or a related field is desirable. As a condition of employment employees are expected to obtain and hold for the duration of employment, a current Positive Notice Blue Card. CONDITIONS AND SALARY Hours of Duty: 27 hours per week. 9 weeks fixed term School Officer Level 5, Step 1 $2,028.73 per fortnight in keeping with the Moreton Bay Boys' College Enterprise Agreement. Pro-rata annual leave, sick leave and long service leave. The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee.
