What you'd be doing in this role This is an individual contributor role, where you will lead and be accountable for projects, processes and craft mentorship without having any formal people management responsibilities. You will design, develop and deploy solutions to challenging problems at the intersection of natural language and Design AI - working closely with engineers, product managers and other designers to deliver value to our users You think differently and challenge the status quo in order to design simple, valuable solutions to complex problems You represent the voice of the user within your team (product managers, engineers and other designers), leading regular user-facing research and synthesising findings into valuable insights and actionable recommendations You own complex UX design projects, iteratively testing and learning to devise simple, elegant solutions to complex problems You advocate for best-practice problem-solving, ensuring the team is engaged and actively participating in problem definition and solution design. Build relationships across the company to ensure productive cross-team collaboration You are a confident presenter that can rally the team around a new project and communicate the goals and new concepts to stakeholders About the Editing AI Group Editing AI creates editing experiences that 'empower the world to design', using AI to support users throughout the design process. As our new product designer, you will collaborate with an AI-oriented product team to invent new technologies and revolutionary user experiences. You're probably a match if You possess strong research skills, with an ability to translate insights into value for our users This team works at the intersection of artificial intelligence and design so it would certainly be a plus if you have experience in this space Strong engineering literacy. You love working with engineers and solving complex technical problems Product Design. A portfolio that demonstrates your track-record of shipping simple, elegant solutions to complex problems, resulting in positive outcomes for users (in collaboration with engineers, product managers, data analysts and other disciplines) Human Centred Design. A deep understanding of user research methodology, and a demonstrably empathetic approach to design Problem-first mindset. You're obsessed with identifying gaps/opportunities and enjoy deeply investigating ambiguous problems Ethics. A strong sense of design ethics - with an understanding that the design decisions we make at Canva impact millions of lives, everyday Communication. A confident presenter that can rally the team around a new project and communicate the goals and new concepts to stakeholders Data Fluency. You love using data to evaluate user problems, inform your design solutions and measure success Pragmatism.
