We are an Award-Winning Council that is regarded as Leader in the Sector including the most innovative company for 2021 and most progressive Council in 2022.Job description:The RoleThe Database Administrator will be responsible managing the performance, integrity and security of databases across Council and will be required to work closely Work closely with the Business System Analysts to ensure all databases and associated systems are running optimally This opportunity will be offered on a permanent full-time basis Duties will include but not be limited to: Managing Council's Database platforms both on-premise and cloud environments (including, SQL, Postgresql. Oracle, Azure SQL database and data services, AWS RDS) Work closely with the Business System Analysts to ensure all databases and associated systems are running optimally Installing, upgrading & configuring MS SQL server and related tools Applying database service packs/security patches Proficiency in implementing and managing backup and recovery solutions for databases, including regular backups, full and incremental backups and point-in-time recovery. Experience in developing comprehensive disaster recovery plans for databases, including backup and recovery strategies, failover procedures, and data redundancy measures. Ability to document test results and recommendations for improving disaster recovery readiness. Perform monitoring, troubleshooting & ongoing performance tuning of databases For a full list of duties, click here to review the position description. You will have: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or equivalent qualification. Minimum 3 years hands-on database administration experience, managing SQL Server 2014 (onwards) as well as online databases. Experience in configuration, monitoring and administration of SQL Servers Performance tuning skills A strong understanding of database architecture and design principles. Expertise in developing and implementing disaster recovery plans for databases, ensuring data integrity and continuity in case of system failures or disasters. Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages for automating database tasks and implementing data transformation processes. Demonstrated ability to optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and other performance tuning techniques. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to support database-related initiatives and projects. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot database issues efficiently. The salary range for this opportunity commences at $97,993 (Grade H, Step 1) 11% super.
