The ideal candidate should possess a degree in mining engineering or a similar qualification, along with strong technical competencies. Additionally, they should demonstrate proficiency in social skills such as leadership and communication. Golding, with its recently extended contracts, provides a diverse array of ongoing opportunities. We prioritize the rotation of our engineers to expose them to various projects, clients, and experiences in the mining sector.This is a residential role therefore relocation to Whyalla South Australia is a requirement.Working on an 8:6 roster presents a distinctive chance to immerse oneself in full-scale mining operations while also allowing for a return home every night.Whyalla (dubbed the ‘Steel City’) is located on the Eyre Peninsula, a 4 hour drive from Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. With amenities such as an airport, public transportation, both public and private schools, a university, TAFE, sports facilities, shopping areas, and an art center, the city accommodates a population exceeding 21,000 residents.Whyalla has that small city charm and boasts a generally warm climate. There is plenty to do and experience from the ocean to the outback.Key role tasks:Design drill and blast plans for safe and effective blasting;Develop daily and weekly mine plans to utilise all mining fleet efficiently while achieving mining targets;Regularly visit the mining areas and provide guidance on Mine Plan requirements where necessary;Involvement of pit progression from vegetation clearance to rehabilitation;Manage the High Precision GPS system ‘Wencolite’ for mining fleet;Strategize with the production team to optimise the Quarterly Mine Plan and look for improvements where possible;Assist with reports, schedules and plans in accordance with the site Production Plan and client Mine Plan requirements;Attend project management meetings;General administration duties for the project team.Key capability requirements: Tertiary mining Engineering qualification or equivalent essential;Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mining is essential;Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement;Ability to work closely with Supervisors as part of a cohesive team and work to the plan;Ability to foster strong client relationships;Strong communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal and the ability to interact and liaise with all levels including internal, external stakeholders and clients;Prioritisation and organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and delegate effectively;Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;Advanced MS Office skills are essential;Full Australian Driver’s License is essential;Experience in Surpac or other mine planning software is advantageous.
