Job Description About the role The Mechanical Draftsperson is responsible for translating engineering designs into CAD models, drawings, and other products which meet the product and project requirements of the organisation. The role requires mechanical drafting knowledge, plus the ability to manage design documentation and Bills Of Materials (BOMs) through an Engineering Change process. The Mechanical Design Drafter ensures that mechanical documents are produced in accordance with required EOS quality and drafting standards. In this role you will: Manage the CAD documents including updating of BOM, CAD models, and other related documents. Produce mechanical design models and drawings in accordance with defined quality and drafting standards. Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive and complete system designs. Prepare Assembly Instructions, Illustrated Parts list, and other relevant documents as part of mechanical design. Perform Engineering Change control and design management using Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and processes. Adhere to governance and industry standards About You As an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson, you will demonstrate technical knowledge within or across specialist disciplines and the ability to work under general direction to apply strategic alignment. You need to be an ethical influencer and problem solver who works with people in cross functional teams to solve product and project related engineering problems. Experience Three or more years demonstrated drafting experience desirable. emonstrated experience using CAD and PLM (CREO Parametric preferred). Knowledge of various manufacturing processes (machining, casting, sheet metal, 3D printing, laser cutting, etc.). Knowledge of GD&T. Commitment to quality, accuracy (attention to detail), good time management and document control. Experience with multi-disciplinary teams in a structured product development or project engineering environment is desirable. Experience in Defence sector is desirable. Ability to communicate effectively in cross functional teams to achieve business outcomes with the appropriate levels of integrity, safety, and ethics of these designs. Qualifications: Tertiary qualification relating to mechanical design (E.g. Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering).
