Permanent, part time opportunity for a strong employment services officer - inner West location. The Role In employment services this role will respond and provide guidance and advice to employees and management in payroll related queries maintaining compliance with relevant statutory and award requirements and contribute to the preparation of the payroll. This role will work with the recruitment team to on-board and off-board staff in a professional and effective manner. This role will also contribute to day to day transaction processing tasks (receipting, payables, end of month) as delegated and monitor compliance with accounting standards and relevant legislation. Knowledge and Experience ● Minimum 3 years in employment services or payroll accounting ● Payroll and accounting system knowledge (SAP HCM, PHRIS, PeopleSoft, TechOne) ● Intermediate Excel and computer literacy (MS Office Suite, Google platform) ● Familiarity with National Employment Standards and Modern Awards frameworks ● Willingness to learn new systems and technology ● Exceptional attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills ● Strong communication skills Major Accountabilities Employment services ● Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the relevant legislation, industrial awards, agreements and instruments and the implication of changes. ● Respond to employment queries and provide relevant information, explanations and advice to employees in a professional, trustworthy and responsive manner. ● Advise managers and employees on straightforward payroll queries, in relation to awards and enterprise agreements, policies, rates of pay and conditions; resolving and addressing the query and raising any issue with a recommendation to the manager responsible. ● Escalate complex payroll queries such as award and enterprise agreement interpretation, industrial relations matters; and effectively communicate solutions and resolutions. ● Working with the Recruitment Officers to implement and monitor the on-boarding, personnel file maintenance and exit processes for employees and contingent workers. ● Evaluate internal feedback to inform and facilitate high quality, responsive employment services. ● Monitor the personnel data stored in the workforce management systems and ensure the currency and accuracy of this information. ● As required, prepare and check the quality of mandatory employment related data reports internally and to external agencies. ● Set up and maintain an employee’s payroll configuration in the payroll system and ensure retention of support documentation ● Amend the employee set-up to reflect approved amendments to the employment contracts Transaction processing ● Prepare, document and process journals to the general and subledgers including accruals and deferrals as required. ● Perform other financial processes to enable segregation of duties. ● Contribute to the end of month reconciliations and analysis. ● Contribute to and support the annual audit planning, allocation of tasks, development of walkthroughs and respond to the auditor’s queries and information requests. ● Monitor compliance with accounting standards policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
