Abbotsleigh is a leading independent girls’ school where staff possess the highest professional skills and actively support our Christian ethos.The RoleThis role supports the Transition (pre-Kindergarten) class and specialist teachers with in-class activities. The Transition TA delivers intervention programs and one-to-one support for identified students, as well as providing administrative assistance to the Transition – Year 2 teaching teamThe DutiesWorking in the classroom to support the teacher/s and small groups of children in their learningDelivery of support programs to identified studentsProvide instruction, under the supervision of the teacher, to the Transition students in a variety of individual and group activitiesAssist the Transition teacher with documentation of student learning experiences, monitoring and evaluating students’ progressBuild strong pastoral relationships with students which support them to develop a growth mindsetAssist students with organisational skills and facilitate the implementation of School routinesMaintain current First Aid accreditation and provide first aid and personal care duties as requiredOrdering, preparing, and organising classroom teaching resourcesCoordinate classroom and public area displaysAssisting in the setting up of practical lessons for specialist subjectsAttendance at excursions and school events/functionsRostered attendance on playground and carpark dutyAttendance during administrative days out of Term time as scheduledSpecific RequirementsHold an Early Childhood Bachelor in 0-6 years, or an ACECQA recognised Cert 3 or Diploma in ECEC (or working towards)Competence with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new technologiesAbility to communicate well with people on all levels including students, parents, colleagues, and executive staffRelate and respond in a supportive manner to young girlsAbility to maintain confidentiality, exercise discernment, and prioritise tasksAbility to cope calmly and capably in all situations and with an extensive and varied workloadInitiative in handling problems and projects so that workflow is efficiently facilitatedNegotiation and conflict resolution skillsAbility to work as a resourceful, proactive, and positive team member in a collegial and dynamic environmentDemonstrate a keen eye for detail and accuracyAbout our OfferBe part of a vibrant community where staff offer support, and encouragement and are collaboratorsSupport your career journey with generous learning opportunitiesOn-site parking, fitness classes, and student discountsAbbotsleighs Commitment to Child ProtectionAbbotsleigh is a ‘Child Safe Organisation' committed to ensuring the safety, welfare, and well-being of all children and young people at the School and is dedicated to protecting them from abuse and harm.
