About the Role As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disabilities on the Central Coast. The assistance you will be required to provide will differ on the support needs of each client, however, experience with personal care, manual handling, behaviour support with clients of high behaviours of concern and high medical needs will be highly regarded. We have opportunities across two of our support programs. Our Supported Independent Living services enables the people we support to live comfortably and as independently as possible within in their home. It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. These supports are most suitable to individuals who can work flexibly across a 24/7 roster and pick up a range of short and long shifts. Ability to work sleepovers and active overnights is REQUIRED. There are casual roles available within this program currently, with frequent opportunities to convert to permanent part time. Our Short-Term Accommodation Assistance (STAA) provides temporary support to children and adults who usually reside with their family or primary carer. These shifts are on a casual basis and generally shorter in length and allow for a work life balance. Key Responsibilities Support clients with daily personal care such as bathing, shaving and toileting will be required Sleepover and active overnight supports for clients Provide mobility assistance by lifting, transferring and hoisting clients Follow person-centred active support plans and behaviour support plans respectfully Help clients reach their goals through meaningful activities of their choice Track and document the changing needs of clients through thorough record-keeping Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families and your team Advocate for client choice and control in a way that is safe and compliant Skills & Experience An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle Committed to work flexible work hours across the week, including public holidays Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011 Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
