Commissioner NSW Health Care Complaints Commission   The Health Care Complaints Commission (the Commission) is an independent body established under the Health Care Complaints Act 1993 . The Commission acts to protect public health and safety by resolving, investigating and prosecuting complaints about health service providers in NSW.   The Commissioner is a statutory office holder who reports to the Minister for Health and is accountable to a Joint Parliamentary Committee. The Commissioner is responsible for the day-to-day operations of, and provides strategic leadership and direction to, the Commission to ensure it exercises its functions effectively and efficiently. The Commissioner works closely with health providers, regulatory bodies, researchers and other entities in the health system to improve the delivery of health care services, policies and processes. There has been significant growth in the number of complaints to the Commission over the past decade and the Commissioner will need to focus on the timely and professional handling of complaints in the public interest, and continuously improve complaint management systems and processes. The ideal candidate will have: ·          leadership and management experience at a senior executive level, and demonstrated capacity to act with integrity ·          substantial experience within a regulatory, complaint handling and/or dispute resolution environment, which may have been gained in the health care or human services sectors ·          knowledge of machinery of government and Parliamentary processes ·       outstanding communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including a proven ability to maintain constructive relations with co-regulator partners. ·          highly developed organisational and people leadership capability, and a highly attuned customer focus. The Commissioner may be appointed for a maximum of two fixed terms of up to 5 years (not exceeding a total of 10 years). The remuneration is $390,160 per annum plus superannuation. Probity checks will be conducted on final candidates.
