Macarthur is an independent Anglican co-educational Transition to Year 12 school with a strong academic and co-curricular focus catering to students of all ability levels. It is located in picturesque Cobbitty on over 85 magnificent acres, 50 minutes from the CBDs of Sydney and Wollongong. The Headmaster seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Christian educator to this full-time maternity leave position. The successful candidate will join the highly professional, dynamic and industrious Faculty of Technology and Creative Design. The successful applicant will need to be able to teach Stage 6 Textiles together with Stage 4- 5 Visual Arts. The staff of Macarthur are beneficiaries of an Apple laptop computer (for the duration of employment), a supportive Christian teaching environment and well-resourced facilities within the newly constructed and refurbished Integrated Studies precinct. These buildings were opened in August 2022 and contain the teaching spaces for the Technology and Creative Design Faculty, Mathematics Faculty and Science Faculty. Candidates for this role will need to demonstrate: a passion for teaching and a deep knowledge of the syllabus content, particularly Stage 6; a passion for design and the role of technology in the creative design process; an ability to utilise emerging technologies within design projects; a passion for developing creativity and high expectations in student projects; an innovative approach to teaching and learning within the workshop environment; an understanding of WHS as it applies to workshop and studio areas; a comprehensive understanding of classroom differentiation; and, a deep understanding of how students think and learn. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate innovative use of ICT in teaching and learning, proficiency in writing teaching programmes, and an understanding of best practices in student assessment and feedback. The desire to contribute to the outdoor education and co-curricular programmes that provide a rich experience for our students and a rewarding sense of job satisfaction for our teachers is imperative.
