The Role As the Sales and Events Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and enhancing the guest experience through strategic sales initiatives and flawless event execution. Leveraging your background in business development, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies, cultivating client relationships, and managing all aspects of events hosted at our resort. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef, Pinky's Venue Manager, and Reservations Manager to coordinate events and functions seamlessly at both Discovery Rottnest Island and Pinky's Rottnest Island. Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve targets. Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and industry stakeholders. Oversee the planning and execution of events, including corporate retreats, conferences, weddings, and special events. Identify opportunities for revenue generation and implement pricing strategies to maximize profitability. Manage all function and event enquiries from start to finish, for significant bookings they will be required to be present on the day as a first point of contact for outsider organiser and to assist with running the event/function. Manage event requests and coordinate with relevant departments for all operational logistics; Coordinate activities for inhouse guests and strategize on value adding initiatives to the guest experience e.g. through family/couple targeted entertainment. Completing a 12 monthly activities & events calendar; Manage local stakeholder relationships through regular touch points and represent Discovery Rottnest Island at tourism related functions as required; Coordinate staff appreciation events as required (monthly in peak periods); Skills & Experience Have the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and all internal & external stakeholders Demonstrated success with financial analysis, planning and control in regard to event budgets Proactive approach to guest satisfaction, experience and feedback Experience with managing events in remote settings General understanding of all facets of operations - F&B, Front Office & Housekeeping departments Available on weekends to be present where functions/events are booked, and flexibility to stay over for evening functions may be required; Flexibility to work within the business during low season in food/beverage & front office as required.
