Position Information The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people. About the Role A School Administrative Officer provides administrative, financial and student welfare/wellbeing support and assistance in relation to office and classroom activities, including but not limited to the following school settings: the office, sick bay, library, science laboratory, and food technology/kitchen areas. Essential Requirements Working with Children Check Clearance First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training. Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs. Selection Criteria Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team. Administration skills including a knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work with teachers and students. Ability to perform tasks in one or more of the following areas: office procedures; accounting procedures; sick bay; hospitality and /or design and technology; science. It was the first public school to be established in Cowra and has been educating children since 1858. The school's motto is "Knowledge is Power" and the emphasis is on giving every child, every opportunity, every day to support them to reach their full potential as individuals. Our school is supported by the P&C, as well as other community organizations including Cowra Riding for the Disabled, Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre and Cowra Early Intervention Services. These services work in collaboration with the school to enhance outcomes for all students and their families. Approximately 4% of our students have a language background other than English while 32% of students identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent. All students take part in the Wiradjuri language program and the school has developed strong partnerships with the Cowra Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and community Elders. Cowra Public provides comprehensive student wellbeing programs including Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) processes. The three school-wide expectations are to be respectful, safe and on task.
