Drill & Blast Engineer Date: 26 Feb 2024 Location: Mine FIFO, AU 8:6 Roster | FIFO Perth to Roy Hill Mine | Permanent Base Super FIFO Allowance 3 annual bonus schemes Company contribution towards private health cover for employees and immediate family Be part of an innovative and technologically advanced mine site About the role: The Mining Engineering team has an exciting opportunity for a Drill and Blast Engineer to join their dynamic and collaborative team. Reporting to the Senior Engineer Mining, you will play a central role in the production of broken stocks, ensuring the blasting process is well planned, technically sound and cost effective. Apply your skills to shape practical, productive designs and schedules, while exploring new ways to apply industry leading technology and automation. Duties: Generate and review drill and blast designs Use measures while drilling data from the autonomous drills to optimise your designs Apply your analytical skills to seek out ways to improve fragmentation and ensure productive dig rates Provide technical input into the weekly and monthly planning process, as well as bench planning practices Undertake projects, design trials and provide technical analysis to help increase efficiency Manage product and accessory inventory to ensure sufficient stock on hand Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent Open Pit Mining Certification Demonstrated open pit mining experience Competence with at least one major mining software such as Vulcan, ShotPlus or Alastri Demonstrated understanding of drill and blast designs and techniques Great communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving Experience working on blast crew or as an operator desirable Knowledge of blast vibration management desirable Mine Site Facilities: Modern, comfortable camp accommodation High quality gourmet food options (vegan, gluten free and healthy options) Large fully equipped gym facility, as well as a gym specifically for females Heated outdoor swimming pool Beach Volleyball court and Golf simulators Village shop and extensive supporting amenities SWIFT in-room entertainment with comprehensive content and own-device casting capability Active social club with community events and activities for employees Lifestyle, Learning and Recreation initiative which provide events for your family About the Company: Roy Hill is a world class mining company, leading the way through innovative, integrated mining rail and port operations, to export iron ore safely and efficiently from West Australia's Pilbara region.
