An exciting opportunity exists to join Northern Sydney Local Health District Coding team. The position is responsible for the timely and accurate coding of patient's episodes of care by analysing clinical information to assign diagnoses and procedures codes using the ICD-10-AM classification system. Remote coding may be available for the right applicants What you'll be doing The primary responsibility of a clinical coder is the accurate translation of narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries and procedures into alphanumeric codes using ICD-10-AM and the correct assignment of the DRG within the NSW Health and Northern Sydney Local Health District timeframes. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them. Completion of HIMAA/OTEN coding course or relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management or equivalent experience. Demonstrated coding experience in a tertiary hospital using ICD-10-AM/ACHI and 3M Codefinder across a range of specialties with a proven knowledge and understanding of Australian Coding Standards and DRGs. Demonstrated ability to monitor and consistently meet coding throughput and quality KPIs. Demonstrated time management skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks. Demonstrated experience with Patient Administration system/eMR such as Cerner. Demonstrated ability to work in both unsupervised environment and within a team. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, both in verbal and written communication.
