Your new role We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer who will be responsible for assisting in advancing our Azure Synapse Data Engineering capability at the Fund. This key role will act as a Senior Technical Mentor to other Data Engineers in building the Fund's Data Solution At AustralianSuper, we put members first in everything we do. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong member-centric mindset, have proven engineering leadership and governance expertise (including commercial management), have breadth of experience across different delivery techniques and be passionate about continuously learning, leading, and developing talent. Some key responsibilities but not limited to; Thought leading via influence and assist in establishing a world class Data Engineering practice by reimagining all existing processes, tools and skill sets. Identify and advocate use-cases for the Fund's newly established data platform; assist in planning and migration of Data and applicable services onto the Fund's Data Solutions. Assist projects with Data Engineering associated scope, planning, resourcing, scheduling, and costing. Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other techniques that optimise statistical efficiency and quality. Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. Lead and motivate the team to ensure delivery of exceptional Data Engineering quality outcomes whilst creating a sense of urgency around genuinely delivering better experiences for our members and colleagues. Liaise effectively with project team members, business stakeholders and external vendors to build strong partnerships to help create a collaborative, transparent, and high performing culture with a strong delivery mind set. Experience working in complex enterprise Data Environments. Proven advanced Engineering experience in Python, Spark, SQL and related languages. Proven DevOps experience inclusive of creating CI/CD/CT pipelines for data engineering and analytics using Azure Devops. Strong experience in one or more of the following public Data cloud platforms, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Google Cloud, with preference for Azure Cloud Synapse and ADF, ADB. What you'll need Tertiary qualification in Computer Science / Information Technology. Financial Services experience. Experience with Agile practices. A thirst and willingness to expand and gain knowledge in new technologies (e.g. Machine Learning / AI). Engineering and people leadership experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills. Self-driven with the ability to operate under minimal direction from leadership. Flexible mindset with the ability to adapt to new technologies as required.
