Please note: This role is remote for now; however, we’d expect you to spend time with clients and the team in person when needed, and when we establish an office in the CBD (in the future), we’d require 2-3 days per week in the office. Who we are looking for We are looking for a high-performing Senior Software Engineer with a strong proficiency in building modern C# .NET Core/.NET 8 (5 years) web applications, including front-end skills (Razor, VueJs), using cloud services (Amazon), is self-directed, an effective communicator, and takes ownership and responsibility for their work to ensure successful business and client outcomes. If you are confident in building web products all by yourself, if you like having a lot of responsibility and owning the development of products end-to-end, and if you like startups and have already worked on one or likely will someday, you’ll enjoy working on GXE. You will contribute to developing the GXE SaaS platform and supporting infrastructure by writing new features, gathering requirements, fixing bugs and contributing to the technical roadmap. As a small yet agile team, you will have opportunities to contribute across the entire technical stack, from development improvements to production infrastructure. The team You will be reporting to our CTO, Andrew Armstrong, and will be joined by new team members in a small team. Andrew previously co-founded and was CTO of OmnyStudio.com (acquired by Triton Digital in 2019), an audio management platform used by large media companies. You will Execute Software Development responsibilities Design and develop scalable software solutions that meet the requirements of stakeholders. This includes understanding user needs, architecting software systems, writing code, and implementing features to a high-quality standard. Test your code to ensure that it functions correctly and meets quality standards. This includes writing unit tests, integration testing, thorough reviews, and debugging issues that arise during the development process and in production. Maintain and enhance existing software systems. This involves fixing bugs, implementing feature enhancements, and optimising performance to ensure that the software continues to meet users' needs. Follow best practices and coding standards to ensure the quality, maintainability, security, and scalability of the software you develop. This includes writing clean, correct, modular code, documenting your work, and adhering to relevant coding guidelines. Provide technical platform support to clients and internal users, troubleshoot issues, validate technical concerns, and address client feedback to ensure a positive client and user experience. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, tools, and trends in the field of software development. This includes attending conferences, participating in training programs, and self-learning to improve your skills and knowledge continually. Be a leader and Client advocate. Engage with Clients and Stakeholders where required Contribute to Team Success What success looks like In the first week, you can meet the wider team, dive into our technical stack, and ship changes to production. In the first month… You will immerse yourself in understanding GXE's vision, strategy, platform, and client base, alongside getting acquainted with the team. You will delve into the technical stack, development environment, and platform documentation to grasp the technical aspects fully. You'll become familiar with the technical stack by contributing changes to various parts of the platform. Participating in code reviews will help you understand the team's coding standards, best practices, and architectural approach. You'll also gain insights into current projects and priorities by attending meetings, reviewing documentation, and shadowing team members. Additionally, you will meet with your manager to establish short-term and long-term goals aligning with the team's objectives and GXE's overarching priorities. In the first three months… You will escalate your involvement by taking charge of small to medium-sized features or projects, engaging in every phase from product definition and design to implementation, deployment, and documentation. You'll showcase your leadership by presenting these projects to the team. Collaboration with stakeholders and clients will be key to gathering requirements and ensuring that technical solutions align with business goals. You'll actively participate in GXE's quarterly planning, contributing to the documentation process through various means, such as writing tickets, updating technical documentation, and preparing design documents. Additionally, you'll seek and incorporate feedback from peers, managers, and stakeholders to identify and act on areas for improvement, furthering your professional development. In the following months… You will progress to owning medium to large features and projects, overseeing the entire process from requirements gathering to successful delivery. This period will also see you contributing to the long-term technical roadmap, highlighting your growing influence on the strategic development direction. You'll have opportunities to engage with the entire technical stack, which includes making development improvements and enhancing production infrastructure. This broadened scope of work will allow you to impact the organisation's immediate and future technical landscape significantly. Requirements You have Strong proficiency in writing modern C# .NET Core / .NET 8 (5 years) web applications Comfortable with front-end development (Razor, Vue.js/TypeScript) Proficient with GitHub, CI/CD, unit testing, PostgreSQL, and delivering well-tested code Experience integrating with cloud platforms (Amazon / Azure / Google) Self-directed and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to delivering successful outcomes at a fast pace with attention to detail Effective communication, time management and collaboration skills with the ability to work well in a team environment and on your own Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products in a fast-paced environment A deep practical understanding of software development and awareness of industry trends Nice to have Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Domain knowledge within financial services (particularly in family offices, private equity, property development, and venture capital) is beneficial.
