About the Role The Microsoft Database Administrator plays a crucial role in our Clients operations by ensuring the availability, security, and performance of the database systems. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing database systems, as well as maintaining accurate and up-to-date data. You will also work closely with the ICT team and other departments to identify and resolve database-related issues. Role Responsibilities: The Database Administrator is accountable for the availability, security, and performance of the database systems. DBA for the Microsoft environment for most of its applications and databases. Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of database administration tools and processes, including automation. Develops and maintains procedures and documentation for databases. Contributes to the setting of standards for definition, security and integrity of database objects and ensures conformance to these standards. Manages database configuration including installing and upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation. Monitors database activity and resource usage. Optimises database performance and plans for forecast resource needs. Ensures that data warehouse design policy supports demands for business intelligence and data analytics. Selects, adopts and adapts appropriate systems development methods, tools and techniques. Provides expert guidance in the selection, provision and use of database and data warehouse architectures, software and facilities. Desired Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field. 3 yrs’ experience as a Database Administrator. Proficiency in SQL and database management system MS SQL. (Oracle experience is a plus). Experience with MS SQL SERVER is essential for this position Experience with data backup, recovery, and security and familiarity with data modelling and design principles. Knowledge of database systems in a cloud infrastructure environment, at least one cloud based database platform (e.g. Amazon RDS or Azure SQL). ITIL V4 Certified or relevant experience. Working knowledge of ERP systems, with understanding of relational database structures and integrations i.e. APIs, data migration experience is a plus. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Manage complex collaborative activities including multiple stakeholders from across the organisation.
