The key duties of the position include Employment Opportunity Information Division is responsible for supporting the departments core ICT infrastructure and services. The Division has a diverse range of responsibilities, including cloud services, network support, ICT project management, business system development and information governance. The Database Administrator and Senior Database Administrator role will manage live operational databases in production use or internal/interim databases used for iterative developments and testing. Activities may include, but are not limited to: Identifying and acting on automation opportunities to improve performance and value from databases, data stores and data pipelines Using database management system software and tools Applying knowledge of the logical database schema. Database Administrator Role: Attorney-General's Department is seeking the services of a suitably qualified and experienced Database Administrator/Engineer to assist with the development and maintenance of systems. The Database Administrator/Engineer is a specialist role that will be responsible for a number of project and operational activities including creating, maintaining and managing databases with respect to security, backup/recovery and monitoring in on-premise and cloud environments. The Database Administrator role aligns with the Skills for the Information Age (SFIA) framework. Under this framework, the role will support live operational databases in production use or internal/interim databases used for iterative developments and testing. The successful candidate will: Perform standard database maintenance and administration tasks. Use database management system software and tools to collect performance statistics. Develop and configure tools to enable automation of database administration tasks. Monitor performance statistics and create reports. Identify and investigate complex problems and issues, recommending corrective actions. Perform routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of database and related products. Senior Database Administrator Role: Attorney-General's Department is seeking the services of a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Database Administrator to assist with the development and maintenance of systems. The Senior Database Administrator is a specialist role that will be responsible for a number of project and operational activities including creating, maintaining and managing databases with respect to security, backup/recovery and monitoring in on-premise and cloud environments. The Senior Database Administrator role aligns with the Skills for the Information Age (SFIA) framework. Under this framework, the role will support live operational databases in production use or internal/interim databases used for iterative developments and testing. The successful candidate will: Develop and configure tools to enable automation of database administration tasks. Monitor performance statistics and create reports. Identify and investigate complex problems and issues, recommending corrective actions. Perform routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of database and related products. Identify, evaluate and manage the adoption of database administration tools and processes, including automation. Develop and maintain procedures and documentation for databases. Contribute to the setting of standards for definition, security and integrity of database objects and ensure conformance to these standards. Manage database configuration including installing and upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation. Monitor database activity and resource usage. Optimise database performance and forecast resource needs. Please note: Salaries in the department are provided through its Enterprise Agreement. Additional remuneration may also be provided through Individual Flexibility Arrangements (IFA). These IFAs can be negotiated prior to commencement.
