Position Descriptor: Glenelg Primary School is dedicated to providing a nurturing and collaborative learning environment. We are currently seeking a quality, experienced Reception Teacher who is passionate about creating an active and engaging learning program. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of early years pedagogy, incorporating play, social and emotional programs, and a planned framework for early literacy and numeracy. Responsibilities: - Collaboratively design, teach, and assess an active and engaging learning program. - Implement a systematic phonics program using Heggerty PA and other evidence-based literacy pedagogy. - Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the Big Ideas in Number, emphasizing 'trusting the count.' - Utilize a whole-school approach to support student goals and learning needs. Requirements: - Experience in delivering a phonics program (Heggerty PA and DfE Spelling and Phonics - Scope and Sequence or similar). - Strong relationship-building skills with families, agencies, and fellow staff members. - Adaptability and flexibility to plan for the diverse needs of each child. - Knowledge and experience of early years pedagogy, including play-based learning. Wellbeing is a core strategic focus at Glenelg Primary School. We incorporate the Zones of Regulation, Interoception, and positive behavior support into our whole-school approach. Glenelg Primary School is excited about the possibility of also offering the selected applicant the opportunity for a full-year contract extension in 2025.
