A rare opportunity to join a luxury Australian womenswear fashion house as their new Product Developer based in Sydney. Collaborating with multiple teams across the company and using your industry experience, you will research trends and historical best sellers, create design concepts, sketches and tech packs, select fabrics and trims, and oversee the production process, to follow the garments through from concept to purchasable fruition. Role Responsibilities: Managing design process from conception through to final product Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the market, supplier base, competitors, and customer segments for all products Conducting market research to identify new trends, fabrics and techniques, and seeking design inspiration Collaborating with buying/ planning and retail teams to ensure option plan is fulfilled and all bestselling styles have been updated and moved on to fully capitalise on opportunities Understand the Company’s brand positioning (including product range, customers, channels, and pricing Premium fabric/ trim sourcing and development Present concept boards, colour palettes and seasonal themes with key silhouettes Creating production sketches for actuate technical development packages Reviewing product for style and fit, and making comprehensive comments for production and suppliers Collaborating with the buying/ planning and production team to ensure all parts of the development processes are in alignment with the company critical path Manage the more junior members of the design team and nurture their knowledge and development Briefing retail, customer service and wholesale team on key materials/fabrics, fit guidelines and other key call outs that will influence purchase or impact wear Analyse effectiveness and efficiency of Design activities against relevant benchmarks and ensure that future activities are progressively more effective and efficient Skills: Bachelor’s degree in design or fine arts, or college degree in fashion design or related field 3 years design experience - luxury/premium fashion brand is preferred Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator Availability to travel for research and product development Ability to do sketches by hand and virtually Proven experience in creating high quality CADs and tech packs Excellent design and conceptual skills Excellent sense of style and colour An extensive knowledge of premium garment construction, fabrics and trims Experience in communicating effectively and meaningfully with off-shore suppliers Proven ability to self-manage your time and adhere to critical deadlines Exceptional organisational skills Ability to communicate effectively (verbally, written and visually) within the product team and with other teams within the company Able to take constructive feedback and work collaboratively towards achieving the brand’s vision What’s on offer: Unbeatable brand exposure Opportunity to grow within an organisation that highly values it's employees Easy parking on site and close to public transport Generous staff discount Diverse, inclusive culture and an atmosphere for professional development In house dog If you are seeking to take the next step in your career or would like to discuss the role confidentially, please reach out to Toni toniprenticejivaro.com.au Please note, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
