Role Description/Criteria This educator needs to be highly motivated, positive, collaborative and a continuous learner willing to grow this program. Outdoor Discovery is a relatively new learning opportunity at Emmaus and we are very committed to engaging our students with nature and the outdoors. We believe in supporting children to be creative, problem solvers and critical thinkers. Our school is based on respect - respect for ourselves, respect for each other, respect for our environment and respect for our God. The Pope's Laudato Si influences our learning in this area. This role provides an opportunity to teach students both indoors and outdoors and links to many curriculum areas such as science, Religious Education and humanities. Our Outdoor Discovery program provides hands-on opportunities for students to connect with nature and learn how to become stewards of the earth God has given us. This position will suit someone who is passionate about teaching students more about the world they live in and how to look after it. The applicant would also enjoy working alongside passionate support staff to grow this endeavour together with the children. The role involves teaching students from Foundation - Year 6 from Monday - Thursday (or Year 1 - 6 Tuesday - Thursday). The applicant would be required to be flexible and adaptable as the outdoors often demands this. Whilst the role is currently 0.8 FTE it is possible to negotiate additional days in different teaching opportunities throughout our school to make this a full time teaching load. Or it could be 0.6 FTE) At Emmaus we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school.
