About the roleWe have a permanent opportunity for a Principal Engineer joining our Engineering Advisory team within the Water Conveyance portfolio. Based in our Leederville office and reporting to our Senior Principal Engineer, you will be part of the team that leads the technical aspects of the Water Conveyance discipline. This covers water pipelines from subdivisional size to our largest trunk mains, water tanks and other structures, the civil aspects of water pump stations and control plant and the engineering aspects of major drainage across WA. As a technical leader, you’ll also provide a centre of expertise technical support and advice to planners, designers, constructors and operators as well as set our standards. The role will be based in our Leederville office and will report to our Senior Principal Engineer – Water Conveyance. What the role will involveDevelop and maintain engineering design criteria, design standards, specifications and manuals for water infrastructure Lead and manage engineering appraisal of strategic water infrastructure product/equipment across engineering disciplinesManage the planning, definition and design of projects by consultants and review for compliance with appropriate design criteria, stakeholder requirements and to agreed time, cost and qualityProvide advice to and liaise with internal customers, external suppliers, service agencies, consultants, industry regulators and agencies in relation to engineering standardsRepresent the Corporation in consultations and negotiations with industry forums, government agencies, local authorities, consultants, developers and community groupsUndertake and coordinate complex investigations, conceptual planning and financial analysis for assessment, development and remedial works of allocated infrastructure assets Key skills and experienceYou’ll have a degree level qualification in engineering, along with extensive water related professional engineering experience in relation to infrastructure planning, definition and/or detailed design of water infrastructure assets. You’ll also have advanced experience in the preparation of detailed designs and review of technical reports and tender specifications for water industry infrastructure. Your demonstrated leadership, and ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence both senior internal and external stakeholders will ensure success in this role.
